First Serbian uprising

Welcome to Orašac, a village only 6 km away from Aranđelovac. This settlement is known for being the place where one of the most important events in the history of the Serbian people took place - the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising.

When you hear someone mention Orašac, the first association is Đorđe Petrović Karađorđe, right?! It was in this very place on February 15, 1804, that Karađorđe was proclaimed the supreme leader. In memory of this great event, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, the Memorial School, and a memorial fountain were erected in Orašac, as well as a museum and a sculpture of Karađorđe, forming a memorial complex. Orašac also includes valuable examples of folk architecture, as evidence of the material culture in this area in the 18th and 19th centuries.
